Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Youth and Family Director, the Youth Food Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating food ordering, monitoring food program sites, training site staff, and reviewing and maintaining program records.  The essential functions will be carried out in keeping with the goals and mission of the Harrison Family YMCA, intentionally fostering a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing and determined.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all CACFP and SFSP requirements and daily operations of food programs. This includes maintaining contact with vendors, sites, and NC state and sponsor representatives. Responsible for menu development, food procurement and preparation, reporting, and fidelity including meeting USDA and HEPA guidelines. Ensures all mandatory trainings are attended and certifications are up to date. Ensures USDA Nondiscrimination Statement is upheld in all food programs.
  • Coordinates and delivers meals and snacks to sites as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records on the number of meals and snacks served. Provides data and reports as required including submitting records for meal reimbursement and grant reporting meeting all deadlines. 
  • Reviews meal counts submitted by sites for unusual patterns.
  • Reports site problems to Youth and Family Director.
  • Responsible for monitoring sites including:
    • Monitoring site operations to ensure the program operates in accordance with Y, state, and local regulations
    • Ensures site personnel maintain proper records
    • Visits all sites within the first week of foodservice operations and provides mandatory reviews
    • Provides on-site training as necessary, suggesting corrective actions for problems encountered
    • Conducts follow-up visits to sites as necessary to ensure sites take corrective action
    • Prepares reports of all visits and reviews
  • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents including conversations regarding youth food within YMCA programming.
  • Follow North Carolina Childcare Licensing Standards.
  • Carries out the mission and vision of the Y and demonstrates the Y values in all contacts with staff, members, community members, volunteers, and outside agencies. Collaborates with marketing team for program promotion.
  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid & ServSafe Manager; the following trainings provided by the Y:  Medicare Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training; Child Sexual Abuse Prevention; Hazard Communication for Employees; Managing Your Risk of Exposure to Bloodbourne Pathogens.
  • Minimum 18 years of age with 3 years of driving experience.
  • Ability to maintain a safe driving record and provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current car insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Able to maintain and follow confidentiality and safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Previous managerial experience

Posted Salary Range

USD $15.86 - USD $17.79 /Hr.
