Overview

Under the supervision of the Youth and Family Director, the Teen Programming Manager leads and developsassigned Teen Programs while directing part-time Teen Program staff and volunteers. They must run the program with safety in the forefront. The Teen Programming Manager manages the program's functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to and supervises the fulfillment of the YMCA mission through the Youth and Family
    department’s activities and programs.
  • Plans and promotes high quality and engaging programming, with an emphasis on safety, relationships,
    skill development, character development, group control and fun.
  • Integrates programming that focuses on mental health and its impact on the lives of teens.
  • Direct Program Oversight:
    • Intentionally develop, launch, lead, supervise, and grow YMCA Youth and Government, Campers
      in Leadership Training (CILT), Leader’s Club, Middle School After School Care, etc.
    • Build relationships and engagement with youth & teens
    • Direct and lead Teen Programs part-time staff and volunteers
  • Plans and organizes day-to-day operations and is present in assigned programs.
  • Completes daily program schedules, staff schedules, purchasing of supplies, equipment, transportation,
    etc.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships
    with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of
    responsibility.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of teen programming information, organize and schedule
    program registrations.
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule, which includes frequent evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Supports the overall vision for youth and overall YMCA initiatives.
  • Continually evaluates, improves, and innovates all assigned programs to ensure they meet or exceed
    Association guidelines and standards.
  • Maintains all records of their assigned programs that are necessary for the operation of the department
    and YMCA effectively.
  • Recruits and incorporates volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and
    develops them for success.
  • Maintains current and required certifications and records for staff.
  • Attends all meetings that are pertinent to this position.
  • Completes all reporting related to teen programming.
  • Assists with the YMCA Annual Campaign through development of staff team, recruiting volunteers and
    meeting annual fundraising goals as assigned.
  • Willing and able to drive YMCA vehicles or buses.
  • Fulfills department/YMCA obligations as required by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven track record of prior experience in youth and/or teen programming. One to two years related
    experience preferred.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; Working
    with Program Volunteers; CPR/First Aid/AID, Bloodborne Pathogens, NC Childcare Licensing
    Trainings.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff, volunteers, and program schedules.
  • Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Possess a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and possess the capacity to respond and handle
    multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the
    community.
  • Drives and operates YMCA vehicle(s) safely and professionally. CDL license with P endorsement obtained
    within 6 months of hire.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Valid Driver’s License in order to drive a YMCA vehicles as needed.

Posted Salary Range

USD $16.83 - USD $19.23 /Hr.
